EUVN and Earth gravity models

CHAMP, GRACE and further GOCE satellite missions are defining new standards in modeling of the Earths gravity field. They are influencing heights systems on global, regional and national levels.

Animation of the spectral development of Earth gravity model CG01c on the territory of Europe is showing behavior of Earth gravity field in different wavelengths.

Because big change in scale animation is divided two parts:

Almost all EUVN big errors detected by EGG97 are in coastal regions (s. Fig. below).

Average value of differences between EUVN and Earth gravity models undulations can be, in the first approximation, seen as datum differences.
European gravimetric geoid 1997 (EGG97) is fitted on EUVN network.
The main statistical characteristics of EUVN and geoid models undulation differences in table below are calculated without points with big errors.
